It's
summertime and Victor Vargas (Victor Rasuk) is enjoying
the golden period of adolescence. Trying to prove himself
as the greatest ladies' man his neighborhood has ever
seen, Victor soon confronts the complexities of life
as he begins to struggle with the responsibilities of
being an older brother to his younger siblings and the
son to an overprotective grandmother (Altagracia Guzman).
When a new romance develops with "Juicy" Judy
Ramirez (Judy Marte), the most beautiful girl in the
area, Victor is forced to confront his life and learn
the difference between acting like a man and being one.
Peter
Sollett's feature debut has been celebrated as "divinely
realized" by The New York Times. His stunning piece
of filmmaking carefully explores the stumbling blocks
of growing up and captures adolescence at its most tender,
funny and genuine. Sollett's script was developed through
the Sundance Screenwriters Lab, a prestigious program
which offers emerging artists the opportunity to work
intensively on their feature film scripts with the support
of established screenwriters. Sollett also extensively
workshopped the film with the support of La Cinéfondation
in Paris.
