Roger Rabbit 2: Want to know why the much anticipated Roger Rabbit prequel or sequel Who Discovered Roger Rabbit? never happened? A VERY detailed article regarding the production stages and history of the Roger Rabbit franchise was released on the DIG Edition website and you may read the article by clicking here. For us, Jim Hill has, essentially, drawn out the battle between Spielberg and Disney.

Arach Attack: A cheesy film about attacking spiders? Perhaps...but it's going to be by some pretty cool directors. Variety reports that Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich, the geniuses behind Independence Day and the over-hyped Godzilla, has inked a deal to produce this "f/x-driven comedic thriller about a toxic waste spill causes giant spiders to go on a rampage." The picture, said to be budgeted at under $30 million, will start shooting in September in Australia. New Zealander Ellory Elkayem will direct from a script he cowrote with Jesse Alexander. No cast has been set, as of yet.

Jurassic Park 3: Some rumors about the third JP film...in a recent interview, Joe Johnston was quoted to saying this about the status of the third film, which looks to be filmed in Maui, Hawaii later this year. "The script is being rewritten by William Goldman because of some minor problems with the plot. You asked me about the plot, and…eh. All I can say is that it isnīt a prequel to the first movie, but a new and more independent story which stands alone. Expect more dinosaurs and more plot!"

At the same time, Corona's Coming Attractions reports of a possible teaser trailer for Jurassic Park 3 to be released later this summer. The trailer would begin by displaying some "exotic flora" and then panning to show some dinosaurs in the background, making noise without actually seeing them. The camera then pans out, while still focused on their tails, and a Loch Ness-type dinosaur bursts out of the water and swallows the camera. The title "Swallows with extreme force and anger" appears on the bottom of the screen, then the title Jurassic Park burns in the center.

A.I.: It has been confirmed by FilmForce that Haley Joel Osment has, indeed, officially signed on board. On the same subject, Steven Spielberg has reportedly finished writing the screenplay himself.

Josie and the Pussycats: Coming off her acclaimed performance in Scream 3, Parker Posey is set to join Rachel Leigh Cook in this film by Harry Elfont and Deborah Kaplan, the team who directed my favorite teen flick, Can't Hardly Wait. At the same time, Tara Reid (American Pie) and Alan Cumming are currently in negotiations. The movie "satirizes contemporary pop music and pop culture and revolves around a group of female sleuths/rockers, the Pussycats, headed by Josie (Cook). The three rockers find themselves being used by an evil mogul to brainwash American youth by placing subliminal messages in their songs. Reid would play the Pussycats' drummer, and Posey has been cast in the role of the tyrannical egomaniacal record label CEO who manipulates Josie and the band. Cumming would play her right hand man, a talent scout responsible for discovering Josie and the Pussycats."

Exit Wounds: Steven Seagal in a Matrix or Romeo Must Die film? Seagal has signed with Warner Bros. to star in this action drama to be produced by Joel Silver (The Matrix) and directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak, the team behind the recent Romeo Must Die. The screenplay is an adaptation of a 1990 novel by John Westermann about a cop stuck in an inner-city precinct who uncovers corruption. Says Silver, "It's a cool urban movie, with a precinct feel to it."

Dirty Dancing 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah...all this buzz about Britney Spears doing a millenium-ish version of Dirty Dancing. Rather though, the Herald-Sun in Australia is set to clear up the issue. Spears has no intentions of doing a film related to Dirty Dancing but rather, will do a film LIKE Dirty Dancing, only somewhat modernized. Thanks to 'Moviehole'.

Traffic: Just a brief casting note...Dennis Quaid (Any Given Sunday) has joined the cast of this film which already has Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones attached. Quaid will play the lawyer counseling Zeta-Jones, who's left to run a drug empire when her husband is carted off to prison.

Chicken Run: Thanks to Jawad, the official site to the CG-animated film about a bunch of chickens, running to escape the coop for their lives, now has their official website open and on there, you can find a streaming version of the trailer which is supposed to air before The Road to El Dorado tomorrow.
