Star
Wars, Episode 2:
You know, some people just have too much free time
on their hands these days. Take this nugget, for example:
TheForce.Net
posted a fan-made trailer for "Star Wars, Episode
2". Now while I've seen many fan-made trailers
on their site, this one is quite good. It has footage
of many of the new actors, including Hayden Christensen,
Jimmy Smits, Christopher Walken, and (if he joins)
Gabriel Byrne. I recommend watching it to satisfy
your craving until the real one comes out in 2001.

Wars: Episode 2" Fan Trailer (QuickTime)
In
related "Episode 2" news, the Star
Wars official site reveals that Jimmy Smits, Anthony
Daniels, and Samuel L. Jackson have wrapped up their
work in Sydney, Australia. Jackson has finished all
but his action scenes and will return in August. Daniels
has a month-long break before he goes to Italy and
Tunisia to do C-3PO again. It is assumed that Smits
is finished completely due to the fact that his role
as Bail Organa is only minor in "Episode 2".
Atlantis:
The Lost Empire:
A real trailer for a real film coming out one year
from now is online surprisingly early. Disney has
released the first teaser trailer for their next animated
project, "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" which
will be released July 2001. Click on the link below

The
Santa Clause 2:
Tim Allen and Walt Disney are pushing forward with
plans for a sequel to 1994's "The Santa Clause"
in which Tim Allen played an ordinary man who stumbles
upon the Santa Claus job by chance. The original film
grossed $144 million domestically. The focus of the
sequel is rumored to focus on the balance between
home life and work. Don Rhymer is prepping the script
with the studio expecting to have the film out by
November 2001.
Tree:
Director Steven Surjik ("Wayne's World 2'') is
in final negotiations to direct a comedy project that
was originally envisioned as a vehicle for David Spade
and the late Chris Farley. The picture will be based
on an as-yet-uncredited script involving a low-level
White House employee who goes to the Pacific Northwest
in search of a presidential Christmas tree. The White
House staffer hooks up with a quirky truck driver
and hijinks ensue. MGM confirmed Friday that it will
pick up the project from Universal. It's unclear if
Spade is still interested in the project but talks
on other talent attachments are expected to follow
shortly after the director is attached.
The
Score:
Gossip columnist Liz Smith reports that Marlon Brando
has been filming his scenes nude in order to ensure
that the camera is filming him from the waist up.
According to Smith, crewmembers think this is Brando's
way of forcing the cameras to film him above the shoulders
in order to hide his weight. Obviously, fellow cast
members Robert DeNiro, Edward Norton, and Angela Bassett
aren't too pleased with this. To make things more
uncomfortable, Brando is also demanding that his scenes
be directed by Robert DeNiro and DeNiro only (the
director of the movie is Frank Oz).
Gangs
of New York:
Because of his motorcycle accident, it looks like
Liam Neeson will have to drop out of Martin Scorsese's
"Gangs of New York" picture to which he
would have played the father to Leonardo DiCaprio.
Neeson's recovery may not be fulfilled before August
30th, which is when the picture is slated to begin
shooting.

What
Lies Beneath / Loser / In Crowd:
The Harrison Ford/Michelle Pfeiffer thriller toppled
"X-Men" by taking the number 1 position
at the box-office. "X-Men" lost 56% of its
audience by the second week which was more than what
Fox has expected it to be. The real test comes next
week when Fox will have a better picture as to how
much the movie will make (anywhere between $150 and
$175 million). Meanwhile, the two teen movies that
opened didn't fare too well. We got reviews for the
three of 'em, if you haven't checked them out yet.
