Lord of the Rings: New Line Cinema has given Cinema Confidential the opporunity to announce the upcoming opening of the Lord of the Rings movie website. The site, which opens in 5 days, will include some footage, photographs, and other various information related to this highly anticipated trilogy from Peter Jackson. To the right, you may get an exclusive preview of the site. Also, the studio sent me a teaser Shockwave animation for today. You may view by clicking this Flash Preview .

Terminator 3 & 4: If Arnold isn't going to be back, does that put the other cast members out of the picture? The ArnoldFan website is reporting that Linda Hamilton may reprise her role as Sarah Connor and is reported "looking forward to it." The reports, which are taken from CNN and "Entertainment Tonight", state that Edward Furlong would be interested in returning, although he has not formally been approached yet.

April Fools Day Jokes: Apparently, some people failed to read the little blurb at the bottom of Friday and Saturday's news posting. There IS NO Titanic 2, Cinema Confidential: The Movie, Dawson's Creek: The Movie, Backstreeet Boys to the Rescue or live-action The Simpsons movie being planned. Just an April Fools Day joke...

The Shipping News: After winning his Academy Award, Kevin Spacey is showing no signs of stopping: The actor (currently filming Pay it Forward) has signed to do this film in which John Travolta expressed interest numerous times. The film will be under the direction of Lasse Hallstrom (The Cider House Rules.)

The Nightmare Before Christmas 2: Harry Knowles at Ain't It Cool News is, himself, reporting that Tim Burton is in talks to develop a sequel to The Nightmare Before Christmas. The report was brief so nothing else could be muffled from the report, other than the fact that it appears that Disney will be picking up the rights to the film.

James Bond 20: This is a follow-up to Friday's report about the next Bond film..."Robert Copplinger" states that the description sent in by the scooper on Friday fits in a description he head recently. According to Robert, Eon Productions has secured the rights to produce "Casino Royale", a Bond novel written by creator Ian Flemming. Now, many of you might be saying "They already made a movie called that!" True...sort of. See, Casino Royale (which starred Woody Allen) was a parody that was never considered on of the nineteen Bond films (ie. it didn't have the opening scene, theme music, etc...)

Secondly, the scooper on Friday told us that the script would involve the EU. The European Union is an organization of 15 European countries that have integrated much of their laws to create a pan-European free market and last year, 11 of them merged their currencies into a new currency, known as the Euro. The notes and coins for this new currency are being introduced in, get this, 2002, when the next Bond film is supposedly going to open up.

Buffy, The Vampire Slayer: We all know that there have been some talks to do a big-screen adaptation for WB's "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" with Sarah Michelle Gellar. "Mr. Bojangles" sends a scoop stating that Joss Whedon has almost completed a script and that the transition between the television show and the movie would be almost as good as The X-Files. Should the script go into production, the film would most likely be shot at the end of this year. Of course, file this report under the "rumor" section: There have been no formal reports of another Buffy movie.

Planet of the Apes: "Curvey" informs me that the planned remake of Planet of the Apes under the direction of Tim Burton will be shot in Australia, probably the same area and studio as Star Wars: Episode II will be filmed. Furthermore, the film will contain real apes (as opposed to men in ape costumes in the first film.) The same technology used in films such as Babe will be used to implement speech in the animals.
