Bond 20: "Stanton
Bryan" sends me the following scoop, although
it should be filed as a rumor for right now but
according to an article in the French Moviz2000
there's a Bond-script floating around to different
possible directors (mostly British directors) of
the next 007-film. Until now the next Bond-flick
won't be out until 2002, due to Mr. Brosnanīs overloaded
schedule, but apparently producers Michael Wilson
and Barbara Broccoli are already in first phase
of the production. The script that is being mentioned
deals with a powerful American coiner situated at
a Casino in Las Vegas. |

|
He threatens to ruin the worldwide money market by issuing
billions of different currencies out on the international
market and thereby increase the world inflation to a
level of lethal instability. James Bond will of course
try to prevent him doing so, but is apparently not that
easy. Also a huge surprise in the script is mentioned.
SPOILER The plot involves Bondīs unknown brother who
actually works for the villain as his right-hand man.
This is also a terrible surprise to Bond, who is unaware
of his brother īs existence. (I didn't know that he
actually had one also!) END OF SPOILER The main-location
in the script is Europe, because of the economic EU-organization
that will be the main target. The directors, who are
being considered and have been send the script, are
Anthony Mingella, Danny Boyle, John McTiernan and Stephen
Herek. The script wasn't mentioned by any title, but
the screenwriter is once again Bruce Fierstein to no
ones surprise. Fierstein also wrote the "GoldenEye",
"Tomorrow Never Dies", and "The World is not Enough".
According to the article about Bruce Fierstein, the
script was originally intended to be filmed in 1995
instead of "GoldenEye".
Osmosis
Jones: Before
the Farrelly brothers begin work on Shallow Hal
this fall, the brother team will begin work on the live-action
portion of Osmosis Jones this summer for Warner
Brothers. The brothers told EW Online that "Our plates
are pretty full, but it's the best script I've seen
my whole time in the business." The brothers will likely
direct Bill Murray, who is up for the role of the host
body where Osmosis Jones lives.
American
Pie 2: In
an interview in the L.A. Times, Patrick Goldstein
interviews Stacey Snider who is the Universal Pictures
Chairman. The article (via Ain't
It Cool News) stated " [that], a successful sequel
to "American Pie" is high priority. The $11-million
film was one of the studio's most profitable movies
last year, making $200 million worldwide, and Snider
has dreams of a franchise as lucrative as Scream 1-3.
Even though the writers have just begun work on the
script, the second "Pie" installment slated for the
release in the summer of 2001. Adam Herz, who wrote
the original film and is supervising "Pie 2" screenwriter
Dave H. Steinberg, sketches a scenario that would reunite
the "Pie" guys the summer after their freshman year
in college."......"At one point, Steinberg suggests
a possible plot twist in which on the lead would bed
both of his fantasy women"........."During the "American
Pie" sequel meeting, there is much discussion of a running
gag where one of the guys only meets older women, never
anyone his own age."
Quantum
Project: In
a history making event, you can download the trailer
for this film starring Stephen Dorff, Fay Materson,
and John Cleese. What's the big deal? Well, it's for
the first film to ever be released exclusively on the
Internet. In other words, audiences all around the world
can watch the same film on May 5th, 2000 at 12:01 AM.
In the meantime, the trailer link is below:
Titanic
2: A
sequel to Titanic? Could be...while speaking
with Handbook Magazine, Leonardo DiCaprio stated
"FOX wants to do something with it, but I'm not
totally sure. They're thinking of developing Rose's
[Kate Winslet] character and how the aftermath affected
her life in the United States. Me...well, I'm just watching
from 'a distance'." No word if James Cameron would
return to pick this project up.
B-Boys
to the Rescue: Word
comes from New Line Cinema that a superhero film involving
the Backstreet Boys is in development. The comedy script,
written by Peter Segal (Tommy Boy), regards five
ordinary college students who stumble upon a "magical
rock which allows them to both sing and save the world
at the same time." A.J. MacLean, one of the members
says "We're really looking forward to doing something
other than singing." In the same article in Variety,
it was revealed that either Britney Spears or Christina
Aguilera would be hired to portray the evil villainess
Moestra.
Cinema
Confidential: The Movie: I
personally have some pretty cool news to report...for
the past 3 months, I have been developing a script entitled
"Cinema Confidential" and is basically a Boiler
Room-ish type movie regarding the world in which
a film critic lives in. It's more of a comedy, really,
for it regards a film critic uncovering the secret ending
to one of Hollywood's biggest projects. He (like me)
opens a website and posts this news under an anonymous
name. Causing fury to the movie industry, the studio
hires him to rewrite the script. To make matters difficult,
the critic falls in love with Sarah Kaplinger, a beautiful
screenwriter who is basically pissed that her script
got rejected.
Well
that's it for the script...now the news update: My agent
has passed the script on and two major studios (sorry,
can't reveal them) are putting it up for consideration!
How cool is that! I'll let you know any developments
that come up in the next few days.
Dawson's
Creek: The Movie: On
the subject of adaptations, Warner Bros. announced that
a feature film will be completed by 2002, when the show
is likely to go off the air. Says Laurel Mabelton, "The
talents [Van Der Beek, Holmes, Jackson, Williams] have
really made a name for themselves in the movie industry
and I think it would be a terrific opportunity to end
such a great franchise." The film will apparently
follow in the steps of the X-Files movie and
tie in the loose ends to finish the series. Kevin Williamson,
series creator, will write and direct the picture.
The
Simpsons: As
bizarre as this sounds, we're reporting it anyway. People
magazine reports that before Tom Cruise works on Minority
Report next year, he will write and star in the
big-screen adaptation of The Simpsons. Apparently,
he will take on the role of Moe the Bartender (voiced
by Hank Azaria in the show). During the Oscars, Cruise
was asked about the project. "Moe! (laughs) Yeah,
I think I can do him." Please tell me it isn't
so! Cruise will also try writing in a part for his wife,
Nicole, as Marge Simpson.
