The Hollywood Reporter reports that Gavin Hood ("Tsotsi") will direct "Wolverine" for 20th Century Fox, in which Hugh Jackman will continue his role as the mutant superhero from the "X-Men" series.

Based on a script by David Benioff, the movie will focus on the origins of Logan/Wolverine as he is given the ability to automatically heal his wounds as well as produce metal claws from his hands.

Marvel Studios is producing the film in conjunction with Fox.
