Variety reports that Michael Mann has picked his next project with hopes that Leonardo DiCaprio will be on board to star. John Logan ("Gladiator," "The Aviator") penned the screenplay.
The film is described as an untitled film noir that takes place on the old MGM lot in the 1930s. DiCaprio would play a private detective hired by the studios to clean up the mess and scandals created by stars. His character is called into investigate a murder in which a Hollywood starlet is accused of being guilty. Characters such as Judy Garland and Bugsy Siegel will be worked into the story.
The movie is aimed at shooting in February.
