Warner Bros. has tapped Mike Mitchell to direct "Monster Squad," a supernatural action comedy formerly known as "Nightcrawlers."

The Hollywood Reporter reports that the script was originally witten by Brian Lynch in 2000 and has undergone several rewrites by writers such as Michael Arndt and Audrey Wells. Brad Copeland penned the most recent draft.

The studio has remained tight-lipped about the storyline but it's known that it will be a big budget, supernatural fantasy.

The studio will be shooting the film in the summer of 2010.
