With news that Peter Jackson has been ousted from doing "The Hobbit" and a rumored second "Lord of the Rings" prequel in the works, it's no surprise that New Line would be considering other directors. TheOneRing.net (http://www.theonering.net) has some news that Sam Raimi ("Spider-Man") has been approached for "The Hobbit."

Nobody has made any official comments yet and I'd be surprised if Raimi took on another franchise in this point of his career. But who knows? Stay tuned Middle Earth fans.
