
Universal Pictures is moving forward with a remake of David Cronenberg's cult horror classic, "Videodrome," which was released in 1983 and starred James Woods. Variety reports that Ehren Kruger ("The Ring") has been tapped to write the screenplay. Kruger will produce along with Daniel Bobker.
The new picture will modernize the original concept, infuse it with the possibilities of nano-technology and blow it up into a large-scale sci-fi action thriller.
"Videodrome" will be modernized as a sci-fi action thriller. The original told of the head of a struggling local TV show who begins airing "Videodrome," a series that depicts torture and murder which transfixes its viewers.
