The Hollywood Reporter reports that Christian Bale will join Mark Wahlberg in "The Prisoner," a film based on a spect script by Aaron Guzikowski. Brayn Singer is circling the project to potentially helm.

The film tells of a small-town carpenter who loses his 6-year-old daughter and her friend to a kidnapper. He butts heads with the detective in charge of the investigation and when the search for the missing children goes south, he kidnaps the man he believes is responsible and tortures him in an attempt to find out their location.
