Sam Raimi recently spoke with MTV News (http://www.mtv.com) about "Spider-Man 4" and not surprisingly, revealed that he hopes to have Kirsten Dunst back for the next "Spider-Man" movie. This confirms that deals for "Spider-Man 4" have been officially made with Raimi and Tobey Maguire but one hasn't been struck with Dunst yet.
“I can’t imagine making a ‘Spider-Man’ movie without Kirsten,” he told MTV. “Of course it can be done because Spider Man has existed without the character of Mary-Jane but she’s one of my favorite parts and it would be a shame not to have her in the picture. I’m hoping she’ll be in it and I’m planning on having a story with her in it.”
Also, regarding earlier reports that the storyline for both "Spider-Man 4" and "Spider-Man 5" have been mapped out, Raimi says that for now, they are just concentrating on "Spider-Man 4."
“The writers, producers and I are working out what the story will be, but we haven’t been talking in terms of Part 4 and 5. I’ve read that [about 'Spider-Man 5’] also, but right now we’re just working on the story for ‘Spider-Man 4,’ just that one film."
Sony and Marvel recently announced that "Spider-Man 4" is being targeted for a May 6, 2011 release date.
