Variety reports that Steven Spielberg will be wrapping up a 32-day shoot on "Tintin" and will hand off the project to producer Peter Jackson, who will focus on the film's special effects for the next 18 months. Jackson is serving as producer on the project. Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish penned the screenplay.
Spielberg is receiving sole directing credit on the first film even though Jackson is spending more than a year working on the special effects.
"Tintin" is being shot using special motion capture technology but exact details are being kept underwraps.
The first "Tintin" film is being envisioned as the first in a trilogy. Spielberg will only produce the second and third films while Jackson is currently taking a stab at the second film and sketching out ideas.
