So over the holiday, you may have read that a judge has ruled favorably in the case of 20th Century Fox vs. Warner Bros. over Warner Bros.' upcoming release of "Watchmen," which is scheduled for release on March 6, 2009.
Fox is claiming ownership over the film rights to "Watchmen" while Warner Bros. maintains they acquired the rights in a deal that included "V for Vendetta," which they released in 2005. "Watchmen" is directed by Zack Snyder and includes a cast comprising of Carla Gugino, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson and Malin Akerman. The Hollywood Reporter states that Fox has every intention of trying to stop the film's release from happening in March. A decision will happen on Jan 20th to determine how far Fox's rights to the project really extend.
Meanwhile, in a bit of irony, Warner Bros. released footage from "Watchmen" exclusively to MySpace. The irony? MySpace and 20th Century Fox are both owned by parent corporation News Corp. In any case, click "play" below to view the new featurette.
