WB preps live-action/CGI "Yogi Bear" movie
POSTED 10/02/2008 AT 8:28 PM ET

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Warner Bros. has hired Joshua Sternin and Jeffrey Ventimilia (exec producers on "That 70's Show") to pen a screenplay for a "Yogi Bear" movie that will be directed by "Surf's Up" director Ash Brannon. Donald De Line is producing via his De Line Pictures; Karen Rosenfelt is also producing, with Jon Berg overseeing for Warners.

Based on the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Yogi Bear was a bear in the fictional Jellystone Park who frequently snatched food from visiting tourists and was constantly trying to evade capture by Ranger Smith.

The film will combine live-action and CGI in the same vein as the "Garfield" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks" films.
