Variety reports that Warner Bros. will bring back Will Smith and director Francis Lawrence in a prequel to "I Am Legend."

The new film would chronicle the days that leads to the virus outbreak which turns most of the human race into night-dwelling zombies. Flashbacks of these events are teased in "I Am Legend," which was released last December.

Smith will co-produce the film through his company, Overbook Entertainment.
