/Film (http://www.slashfilm.com) reports that in the MGM press release about the "RoboCop" reboot, the release mentions that David Self ("Road to Perdition") has penned a screenplay based on the "God of War" videogame franchise for Brett Ratner to direct. The project is reportedly setup at Universal.

While no official announcement has come from the Universal camp, "God of War" is one of the most successful videogame franchises and thus it is no surprise that a feature film may be in the works. The first two games, "God of War" and "God of War 2," were available on the PS2 system and told of a Greek god named Kratos who uses magic and melee attacks in ancient Greece to fight off his enemies.
