The Hollywood Reporter reports that Brian De Palma will helm "The Boston Stranglers" for producer Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures. The movie is based on Susan Kelly's nonfiction book "The Boston Stranglers: The Public Conviction of Albert DeSalvo and the True Story of Eleven Shocking Murders."

Penned by Alan Rosen, the film tells of the killings in the early 1960s and the debate that ensued afterwards as to whether  Albert DeSalvo - a man who confessed to the murders and was later stabbed to death while incarcerated on unrelated charges - was the actual killer.
