Variety reports that Sony/Columbia has acquired the film rights to Scholastic's "Goosebumps" young adult novel series, with Neal Moritz set to produce what the studio is hoping a franchise of features.
There are over 50 books in the R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series, which began appearing on bookshelves in 1992. The series has sold more than 300 million books and has been published in 32 languages. The books tell of scary tales but aimed at a young audience.
