Variety reports that Joe Dante ("Gremlins") will helm the indie horror film "Bat Out of Hell" for for Parallel Zide and VooDoo Prods.Warren Zide, Jerry Daigle, Michael Arata and Ray Markovich will produce the film. Shooting will begin later this year.

Penned by Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan, the movie centers on a red-eye flight from L.A. to New York during which hijackers confront a monstrous cargo.
