Variety reports that the Weinstein Co. will put out a remake to the Joe Dante horror film "Piranha," titled "Piranha 3-D."
The new film will be in 3-D (obviously) and will be directed by Alexadre Aja ("The Hills Have Eyes"). He will co-write with Gregory Levasseur based on a draft by Peter Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. 3-D specialist Neville Page ("Star Trek," "Avatar") will work on bringing the 3-D to life.
The original was released in 1978 and told of a carnivorous group of piranhas released into a summer resort one summer.
