The Hollywood Reporter reports that "Twister" and "Speed" director Jan De Bont will be directing a sequel to "Point Break," although it's not clear whether the film will have any characters from the first film, which was released 17 years ago. The original film starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze and was directed by Kathryn Bigelow.

RGM Entertainment and Essential Entertainment will exec produce this Asia-based follow-up. W. Peter Iliff penned the original and will write the script as well. Shooting will take place in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
