Variety reports that James Gandolfini will join the "The Taking of Pelham 123" remake starring Denzel Washington and John Travolta. The movie is being directed by Tony Scott.

Gandolfini will play the mayor of New York City who finds himself under nder incredible pressure to end a crisis when a packed subway car is ransomed by a criminal (Travolta) and his gang.
