Variety reports that producer Thomas Schuehly will team up with Mario Kassar to produce a remake of the 1927 silent classic sci-fi film "Metropolis."

Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" was considered to be one of the most expensive films at the time and was set in the year 2026 in a city-state with monumental skyscrapers and art-deco architecture. The film tells of a world where people are divided into two groups: the thinkers and the workers. The thinkers live in high society above the Earth while the workers live underground. One man from the "thinkers" decides to go underground to see the workers and is surprised at what he sees.
