
Variety reports that Chris Hemsworth and Clifton Collins Jr. have both joined J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" film, now shooting in Los Angeles. Hemsworth will play Captain Kirk's father, George Kirk. Collins will play Ayel, the cohort and general to Nero, played by Eric Bana. Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci penned the screenplay.
They join a cast which comprises of Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, Bana and Winona Ryder.
Plot details are being kept under tight wraps but it is known that the story will focus on the Enterprise's earliest days.
