In what seems like strange casting news, Winona Ryder has joined the cast of J.J. Abrams "Star Trek" film as Spock's mother, according to Variety.
I use the word strange because Zachary Quinto, who plays young Spock in the "Star Trek" film, is only six years younger than Ryder in real life.
In any case, Ryder joins a cast which comprises of Zoe Saldana, Bruce Greenwood, Chris Pine, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Eric Bana, Karl Urban and Leonard Nimoy. J.J. Abrams is directing based on a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
