The Hollywood Reporter reports that Bruce Greenwood has been cast as Christopher Pike in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" film for Paramount Pictures. Pike is the Starship Enterprise's first captain in the Star Trek saga.

Pike appeared in the original Star Trek series in a two-part episode.

Greenwood joins Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine, John Cho, Simon Pegg, Eric Bana, Karl Urban and Leonard Nimoy in the story that will tell of the Enterprise crew's origins.
