
Depending on your own opinions of "Superman Returns," this could either be bad news or the best news you've heard regarding the "Superman" franchise.
Variety reports that Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, the screenwriters on "Superman Returns," will not be back to write the script for the sequel. Dougherty and Harris had also worked with director Bryan Singer on "X2: X-Men United." Warner Bros. is now pitching the project to new writers.
Interesting enough, the trade says that there are rumbles that the studio is looking to reboot the franchise by pretending "Superman Returns" never happened due to the disappointing numbers that "Superman Returns" put up at the box office. The rumors claim that the studio may opt to take an approach similar to how Universal is handling "The Incredible Hulk," which is a new take on the franchise after 2003's disappointing "The Hulk" directed by Ang Lee.
