Variety reports that New Line has purchased the film rights to the book "Black Dahlia Avenger," written by former L.A. detective Steve Hodel. The purchase comes just weeks before the release of Brian De Palma's "The Black Dahlia" which tells the story of one of Hollywood's most famous unsolved mysteries. "Black Dahlia Avenger" reflects on Hodel's own investigation into the murder, to which he names his own father as the killer. James Ellroy, author of "The Black Dahlia," has declared that Hodel's assessment of his father, Dr. George Hodel, as the killer is probably correct.
