The Hollywood Reporter reports that Alvin and the Chipmunks are coming back but this time, to the big screen. Fox has acquired the feature film rights to the singing cartoon chipmunks from the estate of Ross Bagdasarian Sr., who created Alvin and the Chipmunks in 1958. His son, Ross Bagdasarian Jr., and Janice Karman will produce the feature. The idea is now out to directors and comedic actors. The chipmunks will be animated using CGI, while the role of Dave Seville, the Chipmunks' adoptive father and musical coach, will be live-action.
