Star Magazine (http://www.starmagazine.com) is reporting exclusively that Jake Gyllenhaal is now the frontrunner to star as the Man of Steel in Warner Bros.' new "Superman" film.

Recent Internet rumors have suggested that the studio is closing on its cast since Stan Winston and his special effects crew have been officially hired by the studio to work on the movie. Other reports claim that Henry Cavill is the leading choice for Clark Kent/Superman, with Beyonce Knowles as Lois Lane, and Johnny Depp as Jor-El or Lex Luthor.

Given that Gyllenhaal is supposed to star in Kevin Smith's "Green Hornet" film, we find it unlikely that he would also be Superman.
